Available spots
Service Description
Mondays | 4:00 to 5:30 pm | January 4 to March 22 | 9 classes No class January 18 (MLK Day), January 25 (district PLC day), or February 15 (Presidents Day) Community Room at Whidbey Coffee, Burlington | Grades 2 to 12 Sewing class for kids and teens in grades 2 to 12. No patterns, no worksheets. Real, hands on making from day one. This winter's projects are made for the season: fleece gloves, scarves, hats, cozy PJ bottoms, and a patchwork heart pillow. Each student picks a project, grabs a machine, and builds it start to finish. Newer sewists learn to thread a machine and sew a clean seam on their first project; experienced students take on bigger builds and add their own design details. Younger and older students work side by side, each on their own project and at their own level, so everyone is challenged and nobody is bored. What's included: a sewing machine for every student (bring your own if you'd rather use it), plus all fabric, thread, and notions for every project. Taught by Stephanie Philbrick, founder of Positively Sewing, a self-taught designer with over 15 years of sewing experience, her own collections, and fashion show work behind her, now teaching in small groups so every student gets real attention. Tuition is 3 monthly payments of $150. Classes follow the Burlington Edison School District calendar. Returning students receive an auto discount of 10% Siblings receive a 15% discount; code "2ndStudent" I look forward to meeting you! Please note: All registrations are nonrefundable. Registering reserves your seat for the full session, and payment plans are a commitment to all scheduled payments.
