Service Description
No school? That means more time to make something amazing. On days when school districts let out early or close for the day, Positively Sewing opens the studio doors at Marlin Masquerade Vintage Costume in Westside Mount Vernon for kids who'd rather create than count down the clock. Every camper designs and builds their own project from scratch — no patterns, no kits, no two kids ever making the exact same thing. Just fabric, real tools, and a finished piece they get to carry out the door with their head held high. What we're making: dream up a Pumpkin Puff Plushy, a Fall Floor Poof, a cozy Pillow Floor Poof, your very own PJ Bottoms, a Halloween costume, fashion design (no experience needed— we walk you through every step, at your level), or design a Stuffy that's completely one-of-a-kind you. This project list keeps growing, so think about what you want to make! Notions and sewing machines are provided — show up with nothing but excitement and you're covered (bring your own machine if you've got a favorite). Fabric is the only thing to plan for: bring your own (prewashed, please!) or dig through Stephanie's fabric stash on-site for a flat $30. Sessions are capped at 14 students — book early, popular dates fill fast! Available Dates - Camps are 3.5 hours long. Some Dates have Morning and Afternoon Sessions Spooky Edition: Monday, October 12, 2026 — PLC Day (No School) Morning 9:00–12:30 or Afternoon 1:00–4:30 Spooky Projects List: Stuffed Pumpkins, Candy Corn or Snake Stuffy, Trick-or-treat bags, witch's hat, cape, and more! Wednesday, November 11, 2026 — Veterans Day (No School) Morning 9:00–12:30 or Afternoon 1:00–4:30 Monday, November 23, 2026 — Conference Half-Day Afternoon 1:00–4:30 only Tuesday, November 24, 2026 — Conference Half-Day Afternoon 1:00–4:30 only Nov 23 & 24 are afternoon-only because kids are in school that morning for parent/teacher conferences. What to Bring: We've got the tools covered — notions and sewing machines are provided, so nobody needs to own a thing to join in (though you're welcome to bring your own machine if you've got a favorite). The only thing to plan for is fabric: Bring your own 3 yards of prewashed fabric. Fabric can be all one piece or mix/match 1 yd pieces. Or dig through Ms. Stephanie's fabric stash on-site for a flat $30. Also bring a Lunch, Snacks, and a water bottle!

Pick up: All participants must be picked up on time. Liability Waiver, Medical Consent & Media Release Positive Change, LLC By registering for or participating in any class, camp, workshop, lesson, or event hosted by Positive Change, LLC, I acknowledge and agree to the following: I understand that sewing activities involve inherent risks, including but not limited to the use of sewing machines, scissors, rotary cutters, irons, needles, and electrical equipment, which may result in injury. I voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation and agree to release, waive, and hold harmless Positive Change, LLC, its owners, employees, contractors, representatives, and hosting facilities from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, or expenses arising from injury, illness, or loss sustained during participation, whether for myself or my minor child. In the event of a medical emergency, I authorize Positive Change, LLC to obtain medical treatment if I cannot be reached, and I accept responsibility for any related costs. I grant permission for photographs and/or video taken during programs to be used for promotional purposes. I confirm that I am at least 18 years old or the parent/legal guardian of the participant, and I agree to these terms voluntarily.
